Reinsurance Data Analyst

 

Job Overview:

  • •This Reinsurance Data Analyst role will suit a person who is enthusiastic, ambitious and hard-working, who has a desire to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment additionally who can work independently as well as being part of a small team;
  • Candidate should be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of the reinsurance product in the context of the Rothesay Life business model and desire to develop their understanding of the product;
  • Candidates should have an understanding of Operational risk and demonstrate a diligent approach and strong attention to detail;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Advanced MS Excel skills are required for the purposes of data reconciliation, and an analytical mind set is essential. It is expected to take a high level of responsibility and ownership at a relatively early stage, therefore candidate should be self-driven to deliver against targets, and are able to manage their time and work priorities effectively;
  • The role would ideally suit a high-achieving graduate with 1-2 years’ work experience. A strong graduate candidate with placement or internship experience will be considered if the above competencies are demonstrated.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and summarise reinsurance contracts within an operational context;
  • Perform reconciliations on large sets of data, clearly summarise breaks and inconsistencies, and identify underlying themes causing such breaks and inconsistencies;
  • Evaluate and communicate findings based on data reconciliation work to managers and colleagues across the Reinsurance Transition Team;
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of reinsurance data sets, and be able to apply knowledge to the effect of consolidating data queries into query logs, and managing the query resolution process through to conclusion;
  • Develop working relationships internally (within the Reinsurance Transition Team, the wider Operations Team, and other relevant stakeholders within the business), and externally (with our TPAs and reinsurance counterparts);
  • Take ownership of tasks and assume responsibility for deliverables;
  • Contribute to process improvement and help facilitate measures to reduce operational risk and implement and improve operational controls.
